Starbucks proposed for Long-Addison intersection in Portage Park area – Nadig Newspapers

by BRIAN NADIG

A drive-thru Starbucks coffee shop is available at the southeast corner of Addison Street and Long Avenue in the Portage Park area.

The site’s B1-1 zoning allows for a coffee shop, but special use of the Zoning Appeal Board is required for the proposed single-lane drive-thru.

Postcards advising nearby homeowners of the special use request have recently been posted. The site address is 3557 N. Long Ave.

While Addison is a major thoroughfare, the commercial development site sits along a predominantly residential stretch of Addison. E&J Auto Service formerly operated on the plot, but moved to 5738 W. Irving Park Road.

Also in the area, several years ago there was a Starbucks interaction project in Central-Irving Park, but it never materialized. Around the same time, a Starbucks opened at Central and Lawrence Avenues and Cicero and Berteau Avenues.

In addition, there are Starbucks nearby along Harlem Avenue at Northwest Highway and Lawrence Avenue and Starbucks planned along Harlem at Montrose Avenue, Waveland Avenue and Bryn Mawr Avenue.

There is also a Starbucks inside Target at 4050 N. Harlem Ave.
